Purpose

The Profile page allows you to manage your personal account details within Athena. This is where you can update your name, upload a profile picture, generate a fun AI avatar, choose how your navigation sidebar is organized, and (if necessary) permanently delete your account.

What’s on the page

Personal information

This section displays your core identity details within the app.
  • Profile picture: Displays your current photo. If you haven’t uploaded one, it shows your initials. Clicking it opens a dialog to change your photo.
  • First name & Last name: Editable text fields for your name.
  • Email: A read-only field displaying the email address you use to sign in.
  • Role: A read-only field showing your access level in the current organization (e.g., Admin or Viewer). The text below this field explains where roles can be managed.
  • Sidebar preset: A dropdown menu that lets you choose a default layout for your left-hand navigation menu based on your job function. Changing this instantly reorders your navigation items to prioritize the tools you use most.

Danger Zone

  • Danger Zone: A collapsed section at the bottom of the page. Clicking the chevron (>) reveals the option to permanently delete your Athena account.

What you can do here

  • Update your name: Type a new name into the First name or Last name fields. Changes save automatically the moment you click outside the text box.
  • Open the Profile picture dialog: Click your circular avatar (or the “Add photo” placeholder) to manage your images.
  • Inside the Profile picture dialog - Regular Tab:
    • Upload photo: Click the photo area to upload an image from your computer (JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 5 MB).
    • Import from Google: If you signed into Athena using your Google account and have a Google profile picture, clicking this will import it instantly.
    • Delete profile picture: Click the small X icon on the corner of the photo to remove your regular avatar.
  • Inside the Profile picture dialog - Greek Tab:
    • Create Greek avatar: Generates an AI-stylized marble statue version of your regular photo. (Requires a regular photo to be uploaded first).
    • Regenerate: Click the circular arrows icon to generate a new variation of your Greek avatar.
    • Delete Greek avatar: Click the small X icon to remove the statue avatar.
  • Change your sidebar layout: Open the Sidebar preset dropdown and select a layout. Options include:
    • General: “Default configuration for all use cases.”
    • Content Marketer: “Prioritizes content workflows and recommendations.”
    • SEO: “Prioritizes sources, rankings, competitor visibility.”
    • Executive: “Prioritizes strategic insights and concise performance overviews.”
    • PR: “Prioritizes earned media impact, brand coverage, and social insights.”
    • Custom: “Uses your manually customized sidebar layout.”
  • Delete your account: Expand the Danger Zone section and click the red Delete account button. This opens a dialog asking you to type DELETE to confirm. Clicking the final confirmation button permanently erases your account and logs you out.

  2. In the dialog, click the center circle to select an image from your computer.
  3. Once uploaded, the dialog will automatically flip to the Greek tab and begin generating your marble statue avatar.
  4. If you don’t like the AI result, click the circular arrows icon to regenerate it.

  1. Scroll down to the Sidebar section.
  2. Click the Sidebar preset dropdown.
  3. Select the role that best matches your workflow (e.g., “SEO” or “Content Marketer”).

Empty, loading, and error states

  • Empty: If you have no profile picture, you will see a placeholder circle with your initials and a hand-drawn arrow pointing to it saying “Add your photo”.
  • Loading: If the page is fetching your details, text fields will show temporary placeholders. If the page takes longer than 5 seconds to load, an extended loading event is recorded in the background. When generating a Greek avatar, a spinning loader appears inside the photo circle.
  • Error: If saving your name, uploading an avatar, or deleting your account fails, a red error toast notification will appear in the top right corner of your screen.
  • Linked from: This page is accessed by clicking Settings then Profile in the main navigation, or by clicking your user profile menu in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar.
  • Links to: The helper text under the Role field directs administrators to the People (or Users) settings page. Deleting your account links you back to the main login screen.

Common support questions

How do I change my email address? Your email address is read-only on this page because it is tied directly to your authentication method. You cannot change it yourself from the Profile settings. How do I change my role from Viewer to Admin? Roles cannot be changed from the Profile page. As the helper text notes, roles can only be changed by organization admins in the People section of the Settings. Why isn’t there a “Save” button for my name? Your name updates automatically. Simply type your new first or last name and click anywhere outside the text box. The app saves the change instantly. Why is the Delete Account button greyed out? Because deleting an account is permanent and cannot be undone, you must type the exact word DELETE (in all capital letters) into the text box provided in the dialog before the final button becomes clickable. What does the “Custom” sidebar preset mean? The “Custom” option appears if you have previously clicked and dragged items in your sidebar to rearrange them manually. If you select a standard preset (like “SEO”), it will overwrite your manual custom layout.
