Purpose

The General Settings page is the primary location for users to view and manage high-level details about their active organization. It displays basic information like the organization’s name, the user’s specific role, and when the workspace was created. For workspace administrators and owners, this page acts as a central hub. It provides quick links to jump into other configuration areas (like user management, billing, and security) and houses the destructive controls for permanently deleting the organization.

What’s on the page

Organization Details This card displays the core identity of the workspace:
  • Name: The current name of the organization. (Displays “Unnamed Organization” if a name hasn’t been set).
  • Your Role: A badge displaying your exact permission level in this workspace (e.g., “Admin”, “Member”, or a custom role name).
  • Created: The date the organization was first registered. (Displays “No data” if the date is missing).
  • Edit: A button that opens a dialog to rename the organization.
Manage This section serves as a directory of quick links to other workspace configuration pages. It includes:
  • Users: “Invite people and manage roles”
  • Sign-in & access: “Single sign-on and domain-based access”
  • Billing: “Plan, credits, and invoices”
  • Activity Log: “Audit trail of changes”
Danger Zone A collapsible panel dedicated to irreversible actions. It contains the Delete Organization section with a description warning that deleting will permanently remove the organization and all its websites. Drilldowns
  • Edit organization: Clicking Edit opens a dialog with an Organization Name input field. It includes Cancel and Save buttons.
  • Delete Organization: Clicking Delete opens a final confirmation dialog warning the user that the action cannot be undone. It forces the user to manually type the exact organization name into a text box to activate the final Delete Organization confirmation button.

What you can do here

  • Edit the organization name: Click the Edit button in the Organization Details card, type a new name in the text input, and click Save.
  • Navigate to other settings: Click on any of the cards in the Manage section (Users, Sign-in & access, Billing, Activity Log) to jump directly to those pages.
  • Expand the Danger Zone: Click the Danger Zone row to slide open the destructive actions panel.
  • Delete the organization: Inside the Danger Zone, click the red Delete button. A dialog will appear asking you to type the organization’s name to confirm. Once typed exactly, click the final red Delete Organization button. This permanently deletes the workspace and kicks you back to the app’s home screen.

Data shown

  • Organization Details: Sourced from your active organization’s database record.

Empty, loading, and error states

  • Loading: A centered animated loading spinner appears while the page securely checks your organization details and permissions.
  • Empty: If no active organization can be determined, the page renders completely blank. If an organization lacks a name or creation date, placeholder text (“Unnamed Organization” or “No data”) is shown.
  • Errors: If renaming or deleting the organization fails, a red error toast notification will appear in the top right corner of the screen explaining what went wrong.
  • Linked from: Users usually arrive here by clicking General in the main Settings sidebar navigation.
  • Links to: The quick links navigate to /settings/users, /settings/security, /settings/billing, and /settings/activity. Deleting the organization redirects the user to the app’s root homepage (/).

Common support questions

  • “Why is the Edit button disabled?” You must have write permissions for organization settings to rename the workspace. If you lack access, the button remains visible but disabled. Hovering over it will show a tooltip explaining the missing capability.
  • “Why is the Delete button grayed out for me?” Organization deletion is strictly limited to the absolute owner of the organization. If you are an Admin but not the Owner, the button will be disabled, and hovering over it will show a tooltip reading: “Only the organization owner can delete the organization.”
